We will pick you up at 8:50 at your hotel in Cusco. At our campsite at Cusipata River Lodge you can leave your luggage, our guides will provide you with proper Rafting equipment and will give you instructions about your safety. Afterwards you’ll drive for another ten minutes to Chuqui where your adventure will start.

The section of “Chuqui” is located in the Urubamba River, one of the most important rivers in Peru that forms part of the Amazon basin, it runs from the high Andean ranges down through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, past Machupicchu and into the jungle. It has some exciting whitewater depending on the section of the river at any time of the year. The best Rafting section is located in Chuquicahuana where you can find class III rapids on the Upper Urubamba river and the water is not contaminated.

You will spend about two hours floating on the river until we arrive to the Cusipata River Lodge where a good hot lunch will be served in our dining room and you can enjoy a relaxing sauna. You can also try our two ziplines over the Urubamba river, each one of them is 100mts long.

You’ll spend your night at the Cusipata River Lodge.

After breakfast we depart at 7:00 am and it takes us approximately one hour of driving to the trailhead which is located in a valley at 4,900 meters above sea level. We start with our adventure with a walk uphill for about 1 hour and a half. Continuing along the path we appreciate snowy mountains in the distance and the stunning landscape around us until we finally arrive at the Rainbow Mountain. Thanks to the composition of various minerals that make up the different colors right in the middle of a red mountain we can appreciate this beautiful formation.

Once arrived at this natural attraction, also called “Cerro Colorado” or Vinicunca in Quechua, we’ll ascend to the viewpoint where we’ll see the mountain in front of you as well as the impressing Ausangate Zone. After taking pictures and enjoying the breathtaking scenery, we will have lunch and drive back to Cusco, arriving in the late afternoon.
